Upon arrival please check-in at the registration desk to confirm your personal and insurance information. You will be asked to complete additional paperwork for the facility at this time. A driver must be confirmed before the start of your procedure.
You will be escorted to the pre-op area to change into a gown and relax on a stretcher. Your nurse will review your current medications and medical history, then take your vital signs as you are prepared for your procedure. An anesthesia professional will greet you and review your sedation plan. You will have the opportunity to read, review, and sign a consent form to confirm that you fully understand your anesthesia plan.
A clinician will remain with you at all times in the procedure room. Your sedation and procedure will not start until the entire care team is with you. Your procedure will be performed under sedation, so you will be asleep, comfortable and unaware until it is completed.
Following your procedure, you will be taken to the post-op/recovery area until you are awake and alert. At that time, we will offer to bring back your companion as you rest comfortably. Your vital signs will continue to be monitored, and you will be offered a beverage and assistance in getting dressed when you are ready.
Before you leave the facility, your physician will review your procedure results with you. You will receive verbal and written discharge instructions. Our staff will assist you to your companion’s vehicle once you have been discharged. Many patients feel no effects of sedation after leaving the facility but please be aware that it may take up to 24 hours for the sedative’s effects to completely wear off. Plan to go home after your procedure and rest for the remainder of the day, and a friend or family member should stay with you throughout the night. Follow specific instructions provided by your physician regarding diet, exercise, resuming regular medication, and gradually resuming normal activity.
